Re: Overheating today :(

Ok, backfiring and engine problems aside...
Could the overheating be caused by a messed up prop? The day it started overheating we actually bent part of the fin back over itself, not sure what we hit :)
But I read that a messed up prop could cause air pockets where the water intake is... therefore the water pump would be sucking up not enough water?

I hafta ask..why are you still running that boat?
Did you mention earlier you ran up on a sand bar..Maybe thats when your prop got bent...
AND..

If you went up on the sand..isnt it very possible that your water intakes in your lower unit are clogged and gunked up with sand?

Yeah took it out for a couple hours today. And there was this other thing we hit that day too. Just hit it and it was gone so I think that's what bent the prop back.

Not sure how to check the water intakes though, help???

EDIT: Oh thought you asked IF I was running the boat, not WHY. It was 80 degrees today and a bunch of people wanted to go wakeboarding and the boat runs (not well, but it works)... so we had fun.

Took it to the shop, turns out it's a cracked water hose. They said it would be 4 or 5 hours labor, so I'm going to try just wrapping it in rubber tape and see if that works for now.
