New to site. Have a 99 Chris Craft with Volvo SX 5.0 SD. Engine is overheating. No water coming out of prop exhaust. Impeller intact. New thermostat. Have been reading about clogged exhaust lines on other post, where are they located so I can check? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: Overheating

How do you know that the impeller is "in tact"???? How recent is the tstat?? What is your source of water?????

Re: Overheating

Pulled off housing and visually inspected impeller and changed thermostat yesterday. Boat overheated in lake approximately 1 month ago (1st time in water this season for test run). At present, out of water and using hose and "ears".

Re: Overheating

Change impeller with entire kit and run.Have a manual handy to do the impeller job correctly or pay a pro and watch him.I would also idle the motor w/o a tstat to hetermine if it is a tstat problem. My bet is on the waterpump.Charlie

Re: Overheating

Impellers look don't always tell the whole story. Taking a ''Set'' and loss of elasticity's also factor into their preformance.

Re: Overheating

I would check to see if the shutters are broken and cocked inside the exhaust line right after the risers..
I did and found one broken and cocked inside to prevent the exhaust and water from flowing out properly..

That FINALLY fixed my overheating problem that was haunting me for two seasons........

Good Luck
