Re: Overheating

Glad I found this thread because the exact same thing happened to me today. My motor turned off from overheating while at full throttle so I was wondering if you fixed yours yet. It runs but Im pretty sure Im in for a head gasket at a minimum. Im hoping I did not ruin the powerhead and was wondering what the status of yours is so I can see what im up against. P.S. my impeler was intact BUT the rubber separated from the metal sleeve its attached to so the driveshaft was spinning but the impeller was just sitting there. And I did hear the buzzer but It was so faint, barely noticeable, I didnt know what it was until it was too late but when the motor died it got 10 times louder so mabye the connection is bad???

Re: Overheating

If it seized at full throttle, you have cylinder wall damage for sure. You will need to at least bore the damaged cylinder(s) out to .010 or .020 and replace the damaged pistons. These engines don't appreciate overheating at 5500 rpm.

Re: Overheating

Thanks for chiming in, the #2 cyl has a 1 inch wide scrape at 6oclock. I thought it would be way worse but its still bad.
