Re: Overpowered! Great for kids!

I had a 50 on my Boston Whaler 13 at one time. Scared the snot out of me the one time I tried to find out how fast it would go. The GPS said 48mph when I backed off and she was hopping from one chine to the other.:%:%

Re: Overpowered! Great for kids!

My 17ft Skeeter leaps out of the water like it was shot from a cannon and races to a top speed of 45 or so when I put the hammer down on its 85hp Evinrude. It's an older, 1970's Skeeter that is pretty light. It originally came with a 65hp and I thought it was fast with that. HA!

I get an fearful, queasy feelin' over 40, so I can't imagine what kind of idiot would let their kid take off in a 13 footer minus only 15hp than what I'm running. Is he going to buy his daughter a supercharged, Lingenfelter 'Vette when she turns 16 too?

I wouldn't suggest anyone buy an over powered boat for anyone,or use it themselves.

That Whaler is rated for 40 HP max,and that can be lethal enough in amature hands.

You guys have no guts! I have a 14 foot flat bottom with a 90 on it. Goes 55 plus. With full down trim, it jumps out of the hole and goes immediatly to 45. Then as I feed in up trim, it speeds up to 55-56. Going to jack the engine to see if I can get it to 60. It rides on the last foot of the bottom but feels pretty stable. Not crazy though--I do, however, slow down for wakes. ---Actually hit a low flying bird with it once.

I have a 73 Glaspar Citation Bow Rider with a 140hp Evinrude with a SS prop. The speedo says 38mph. Just like a rocket out of the hole.
