hello to all. I have a 1999 baja islander 190. just looking for some input on what would be the best thing to use to get the oxidation off of my boat. maybe also to get it shiny again. for the most part it is pretty shiny. its white with maroon and gray stripes as the baja logo. the gray and maroon are pretty faded in some spots. thanks

Every boat is different, so even if someones says "this will work perfect" it may not. Start by using a polishing compound and a buffer, if that doesn't work use a more aggressive fast cut compound. If that doesn't yield the desired results the next step is some 800-1000 grit paper, again, you may need to get more aggressive if that doesn't do it.

Do a small area about 1' X 1' and refine the methods and products needed before going any further. Sometimes nothing works and you wont be able to it back to looking good.

Is the maroon gel or a decal?
I agree with ondarvr, each boat is different. It may clean up quick with a cutting compound, or it may take wet sanding

Here is an excellent guide to restore your gelcoat. Google "maine sail buffing tips" without the quotes. It is written specifically to that sailing community but it pertains to all fiberglass boats.
