P200TLRW oil pump

1998 yamaha P200TLRW on skeeter boat, I just bought and found on top of other problems I have posted, that the oil injection system has been disconnected, and they even pulled out the pump gear drive. I have a new gear drive that will be hear today. My question is, will the gear drive install without pulling motor from bottom cowling? and are there any special steps to take? I did not find any info. on this in the manual.

Also is this motor a, 2596cc, or 3130cc 76deg. ?

its a 2.6L not a V76.
yes the driven gear shaft can be reinserted with the engine in place.
make sure you have the correct thrust washer and distance collar as well.
is the engine oil tank and remote tank still on the engine and in the hull?

Yes both tanks are still in place, but were full of sludge. I cleaned out both tanks, replacing oil pump, distance collar, o-ring, washer plate and lines. Sending units tested ok. I dont understand why someone would disconnect all this. And Thank you for your help.

Your probable correct. Another dumb *** blaming it on the oil system.

before you run it on the injection clean and test all 6 oil line check valves, debris can cause them to fail.
when you start it run it on premix while bleeding. leave the oil link rod off and the pump at WOT position for about 10 min.
then run on premix and mark the remote tank. at the end of 25 gallons or so of premix check how much oil got used.
