pa pa puterring problems?please help.

ok so i have just about got my 1970 6hp seahorse working good but when it putters i seem to lose power. for instance after seafoaming the motor i took it out for a spin and it was for the first time pushing my 10' jon boat fast enough to plane but then it puttered and it went right back to min. wake speed. i have put alot of time into this motor but now i am stumped someone help please.

Sounds like the spark quit on one of the cylinders.
Make sure the tank vent is open.
If you have good spark, then there still may be some crap in the carb.

well i cleaned the carb had it running and unplugged the spark plug wires 1 at a time each plug kept the motor running. i didnt know you were supposed to open the vent on the tank but it didnt seem to make any differance with the puttering. could there be something else that would cause this? thanks for the quick replies
