Re: Paint alum. boat
if you want to do it right- you've go to strip the old coating right off and start from bare metal.Mostly that's done mechanically, sanding etc-very labour intensive- plus it;s almost impossable to get all the paint off- around rivets, fittings, seams etc.A chemical stripper will take it all off, leaving the surface ready for priming, and the chances of a successful recoating job are immeasurably improved. In fact, almost all recoatings failures are the result of inadequite surface preparation- not the actual new paint<br /> Go to
www.napierenvironmental.com and take a look at the new generation coatings removers- non toxic, no fumes, and won't burn exposed skin. They are used in the aircraft industry, and finding their way into the boating industry as well as other commercial applications. Spray, or brush it on, leave it overnight and powerwash it off.Now you're ready to prime and go with your new coating
