Paint Job

I have a 2001 Southern Skimmer 1660 Skiff and it needs a new paint job. I was thinking about putting line-x all around it since i wont get any scratches and such. Any ideas?

My suggestion is to keep bed liner material in the back of the truck. I would opt for sanding, priming and shooting a couple coats of tractor paint with catalyst hardener in it.

I can only imagine how awful that would look and how poor he performance would be. Fiberglass boats are not "painted" as such, and thus a good buffing and polishing is usually all that is needed.

OK, your wanting white truck bed liner sprayed inside your boat. I guess when people talk about painting their boat most think about the outer hull.

A buddy of mine did it to his... in black and it was miserable to fish from in the summer. The surface looked good and it served it's purpose. Being white you won't have that problem, just it looking filthy all the time. I've seen some threads in the restoration forum where guys have had some choice words for previous owners who sprayed bed liner all over the place. Home jobs when not enough time is taken to prep the surface the stuff starts coming off, lifting and allowing moisture to seep under if.

For the color alone - if it's white, I'd consider it ... black, no way. Here in TN a black interior of a boat would become an oven on the water.

Why would you get scratches on the inside of the boat? Mine is 31 years old and the inside is showroom!

I still thi nk its butt uglyGo with vinyl and carpet.
