Re: Paint job!

Blue and white, I think the blue is called Polychromatic Blue? Take a look at the '63 models on the Old OMC Site
Can you scratch some of the black off and get a look at the original colour underneath, assuming it wasn't stripped to bare metal?
If he hasn't resprayed the power head and other stuff under the hood that should be the same colour, any good auto paint supplier should be able to match it for you, I just gave my supplier the recoil spring housing and they matched to that.

Cheers Cocker!
It looks like the main colour was white but it also looks like there are three stripes on each side.
Shall have to go and have a scratch to see if I can find out if they are all the same colour. Couldnt see a picture anywhere so Im assuming that the stripes were part of the original paint job.
Regards
Tich

Good to have you aboard tich! Do a search(above) using the search name: paint, and type in Paul Moir in the Public Display Name. Paul has some links that may indicate the colors of your motor and might show some good pictures. I'm not sure what a '63 Big Twin is (displacement wise) Give it a go.

Re: Paint job!

According to that list I was right, Polychromatic Blue and White, now all you need is a sample of each. I'll bet the white isn't a pure bright white, the "white" on my '59 Lightwin is actually a very pale cream.
Did you look at the Old OMC Site? If you select the year 1963, then click the link at the top for the full Evinrude catalogue, pages 11, 22 & 23 show 40hp Big Twins. I don't see any stripes though, and the whole bottom end and lower half of the cowl are blue, only the cowl top is white, are you certain yours is a '63?

Yes mate!. Definately a 63. Maybe the stripes were from a previous paint job. There seems to be a bit of red and a bit of blue paint in places, could be that the old girl has been all the colours of the rainbow in her time.
Regards
Tich
