Paint or gel

We're going to flip the boat over and do a bunch of repair to minor dings and scratches on the hull, sand 'er up and paint 'er. Right now, I'm figuring the roll-on paint. Would I be better off putting on a colored resin coating since I'll have patches all over anyway. If so, how would that be done?

If you don't have the proper equipment for applying a gel coat finish then you'll be better off with some single part urethane such as Easy Poxy or the like. Applying gel coat is not for a first time applicator. My $.02
