Could it be smoothed out without stripper?

Re: Paint/prep Question?

You could smooth it out without the stripper but if its peeling and flaking then it is possible that it will continue to do so after you put your new paint on and really **** you off :D. The citristrip stripper is really easy to work with and does a great job without affecting the gelcoat underneath . Check out singinout's thread I recomended it to him and he loved it it worked so easy for him . Citristrip is citrus based and unlike aircraft stripper wont kill you with fumes . The biggest differance doing it with the stripper will be the amount of sandpaper you will use and the number of days you will be doing prep :D. Without the stripper I would start with somewhere between 60 grit nd 120 grit and then work through the grits up to 320 . With the stripper you just strip the paint and then hit the whole boat with 320 :D.

Re: Paint/prep Question?

Both Homie desperate and Lowes carry Citristrip here in the paint department it is usually in the same area with the thinners and mineral spirits and such . You want the Gel by the way dont even bother with the spray cans :D.
