I sanded down my boat and made some glass repair, the hull is now in mint condition ... after I repaired the hull and smoothed it all out...I gave the boat 6 coats of interlux 2000e barrier/primer ... which dried to an eggshell texture and is meant to keep water from soaking into the glass ... now...I am ready to paint... I got some interlux topside paint (white) and I applied it over the interlux 2000e ... I used a roller for the application of the FIRST coat...the paint is very bright and very white and shiny... considering i used a roller im ver happy with the first coat....however I have some hair from the roller in the paint...my question is... if I use some wet 3M microfilm can I remove the hairs andretain the shine? after I smooth it out I will be adding possibly 4 more coats...so I may need to repeat the process a few times ... how do I get the most out of this paint job? how do i remove the hair?

p.s. im holding off on the bottom antifouling paint until I get the top perfect... because the bottom paint cost an arm and a leg....so i figured on getting my practice topside

If you are keeping this boat on a trailer, you don't need the antifouling paint. That's only for boats that live in the water. As for the hair problem, I think you should be using a dense foam roller, and not a conventional one. After you roll the paint, you can lightly "tip" the paint with a high quality badger hair brush to get it as smooth as possible.

FISH
If your painting with a roller, try the roo and tip method.
Sand it lighty smooth, clean it with thinner and let it dry.
When you put the next coat on use a 3/8 or1/4 nap roller.
Right after you roll an area take a foam brush (the cheap ones at walmart) and lightly go over the rolled area.It will look like it was shot with a gun, real smooth and glossy.
I tried this on my wood Skiff Craft on a touchup ,turned out great.
Good luck

When you rolled it did the paint look like a sprayed ceiling at first?
Mine did, when you go over it with the foam brush, only go in one direction. It should lay out real smooth.
Let me know how it worked.
