The initial coat will see the white through the first coat. The second coat will probably cover it. If not, the third will definitely cover it.

I would call Interlux tech support. They will give you a specific answer.

You will be able to paint in those temps without a problem. Make sure that you keep the paint at normal room temps before you use it.

Don't use a kerosene heater. They exhaust residue that could contaminate your hull and cause problems with the paint.

What paint do you plan to use?

The first thing I need to say is be VERY careful with that heater. These are solvent based products and can be very flammable. Read the can on that

What paint and what primer exactly is that you are using? I have experience with most of them and they are different. I assume from the 333 thinner that you are using a one part enamel, like Brightside or Toplac. If that is the case, don't thin anymore than 10% if you can. You are in Michigan and the temps, even inside, are not extreme, so my expereince is that it will work better if you don't thin at all.

Also, if it is Brightside or Toplac, and the primer is Pre-Kote, try using 2 coats of primer and make the second coat a 50-50 mix of primer and paint. That will solve your color issue

If you want a really great finish, be prepared to sand your arm off.

Take a look at the Interlux website (www.yachtpaint.com). They have nice tutorials and a lot of specific suggestions.

I like to use a high quality badger hair brush. They are not cheap, but the result are very good.

I have never done it with two people. 2 people would get the job done faster and that is important in warm temps because paint can start to setup quickly. In the temps you are working, you will get good results with one person. Again, the Interlux tutorials show exactly how to do it. The key to the one-person approach is to work in a very small area and work quickly to always work with wet edges. It is easier than it sounds. You will quickly get the hang of applying the right amount of paint. Don't overwork the paint. It will level out.
