Paint questions

I just bought a 95 bowrider that could use a paint job. I was wondering what type of paint to use and if anyone has rolled paint rather than spraying and what type or results they had. Also for large gashes what type and brand fillers have you guys used. Do you think I should paint it or could I just put a white gelcoat overtop of what I have. Thanks for any input and I did search but couldn't find answers to these exact questions.

depending on the size of gelcoat concerns makes the call for me, if there small regelcoat, if its a big area, id fill and repaint, i have used marinetex for filler, sands well and holds up pretty good
