Hi,
I have just purchased a newer boat (95) and upon inspection it was noted that there is a small amount of corrison on the Outdrive. It was learned that a previous owner had painted the O/D with bottom paint. My question is what info and where could I get this about removing, filling in
any voids, right paints to use etc., before it gets any worst.
Any direction would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
This will be great once I remove the bottom paint from the O/D. Do you know what product or chemical would work best and safest?
Where do you go fishing in RI? I go there every weekend during the summer.

I'm not sure I'd want to remove 'all' the paint. The base coat was put there by the manufacturers and I'm sure is still in good shape underneath.

I'd hit it with a rotory type sander to feather it out.

as you answer your fishing question..
I fish Poppasquash PT., Beaver Tail, Prudence/Patience Islands, Quonset PT. and the Providence River from India PT on out to Conimmicut Light for Stripers only.

Email me if you want to gab about fishing anytime.
You should be able to see my sig in my forum profile.

Take care,

the best way to remove the bottom paint without damaging the factory paint is to wipe it with thinners several times. It will take off the bottom paint almost immediately but in thin layers so you will have to do this at least a few times. You can see when you get to the factory paint.Sand the areas with corrosion.Wipe with acetone, prime with zinc phosphate and paint with factory aerosol paint.Charlie
