I am looking to remove a painted boat name from my used boat. The name on the sides of the flybridge house are painted on white fiberglass, and the name painted on the transom is painted onto navy blue paint (not sure what kind, but the boat is 16 years old). Any advice on what product/technique to use to completely eliminate the painted names without damaging the underlying gelcoat and blue paint? Thanks.

Re: Paint Removal

I used ready strip marine on my paint that was painted over gelcoat. I did a great job without damaging gelcoat. I think I paid 15.00 a quart. It's a nice thick gel material.

Re: Paint Removal

You can try some acetone on the flybridge name. It might soften and remove the paint. If not, use the marine paint stripper. As for the rear of he boat, you might paint it over.
