I have a 1964 naden boat and I would like to paint with its motor.
I saw a nice runabout on this site with a very nice shiny white and screaming red. Seen here.
Is it possibel to get a nice result using a roller? If not, what woul d you sugget please?
And what kind of paint should I use for these kind of jobs? (boat and motor)
I am not rich :)
Thank you.

Believe it or not you can use Valspar Tractor Paint sold At Tractor Supply stores. It's acrylic enamel paint that you can add a hardener too which make it very durable. It cures to a very High Gloss. The last link in my signature below has some good info on how to paint your boat "On the Cheap!" Lot's of guys on the forum use ths paint and like it. You can also use Rustoleum Industrial Oil Based Enamel. It's basically the same paint as the Valspar. You can add the hardener to it as well.

Really cool boat!

Read Wood's thread, you'll get great results. The only thing to bear in mind is that your boat is aluminum, so anywhere you sand through to bare metal, just make sure you prime correctly, using an etching primer.

You can also use a more durable multi part paint, like a urethane... They 'roll and tip' nicely.

Whatever you choose, if you prep right, and spend some time cutting and buffing, you'll be AMAZED at the result!

If you are only painting the motor, enamel spray would do the trick. You could use engine enamel if you prefer and you can get it in bright red. If you ARE painting the boat, I'd go with Woodonglass.

Thanks guys for the valuable info. Great forums. At this point I am stuck at the replacement of the steering cable step. It might be a show stopper. I might paint just the motor to make it look better before selling if I give up on it.
I will post the pics when done. Thanks again.

I am little confused by the input I got in the posting here
I attached close up pics of the motor hookup.

Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks.

First off that's a good looking little tinnie.

This is quickest pic I knew of to show what you'll be striving for. It's a bit tough to see but hopefully it gets the idea across.

You'll need the transom mount bracket then from there you'll have to wing it. May possibly have to make an L shaped bracket to get your mount point on the motor down and under where it mounts now.
