Re: Painting Jon boat

Are you painting the inside ?

I know Cabelas has some nonskid type paint.... which I was thinking of getting myself for the interior of my 15' Aluminum.

That or, I was thinking of going with Rustoleum, paint sticks to just about anything, and once it dries, your set.

Re: Painting Jon boat

I spray painted my fish killer last year. I used Rustoleum primer and paint from the cans with pretty good results. I did etch the hull first with some etching alloy wheel cleaner first and it left a good surface for the primer to bite. Every now and then, I will touch up a spot or two that gets marked up from me beating the snot out of it.

I masked the bottom off and applied a coat of cheap bedliner from the auto parts store, and this helps out some for dragging it from the pond, but it also gets touched up every now and then. I also used it on the inside hull.

2 cans of primer, 2 paint if I remember correctly. I used the big cans of "Professional" stuff from Lowes.

You HAVE to use etching primer on aluminum or the paint won't stick ,it will for awhile but eventually it will start falling off.

Once you have the etching primer on you can use any kind of paint you want.
