Painting powerhead

I'm looking at a pile of powerhead pieces that are in need of a repaint. Should I paint them individually, or is it better to reassemble the unit and then paint it? It appears that it was previously painted as one unit, which I am guessing will protect it better, but I do want to be able to take it apart again one day! Thanks for your help.

You can do it either way but its easier to paint the powerhead as a unit before you dress it. If you paint the pieces its real easy to scratch them durring assembly. Plus taping off the block becomes a pain.<br /><br />Good luck!

I'v always painted them assembled, and hanging from the upper cranck end. Good luck.
