It is time for my 1976 SS16 to get painted. When I purchased the boat 3 years ago, it appeared the PO spray painted some areas to conceal paint. Well, after three years on the water, the paint is now worn, showing aluminum in spots.
I inspected the boat on the trailer, I actually think I can support the boat on the sides while removing the carpet rails to allow me to paint underneath as well as the sides.
I'm a little confused on the paints. I would start with a self etching primer and roll/brush it on after scuffing surface. Sand, clean, then apply the paint via thinning rolled/brushed. The paint is my confusion. I'd like to keep 1976 SS colors, off-white and ocean blue (well that is what I think it is). What paint do I use? The paint here on the forum is topside, is that what I want?
Epoxy paint? What would you suggest?
