Re: Palin's Alaska on TLC

My wife watched the show, last night.
She didn't care much for Sara Palin, from all the political rhetoric.
But, was very impressed with her, on the show. Enough so that she actually called me to check it out.

I didn't see much. I was busy watching Sunday Night Football.

I LOL'd.

Considering it's a political stunt, I kinda doubt this thread can be kept non-political.

Oh well, I thought the hunting & fishing & boating would fit right in with us members! NO POLITICAL COMMENTS PLEASE I'd LIKE TO KEEP THIS GOING FOR AWHILE.

Re: Palin's Alaska on TLC

I watched a couple of episodes. It actually isn't too bad. Some of the cutesy family stuff gets me to change the channel for awhile. Not believing they need to "stock up" their freezer with wild game because winter was coming. How about that woman that lived by herself on the northern fringes of Alaska for the last 7 years. She's not into makeup or any other feminine "stuff". She said she's into blood, guts and bullets. Or something to that affect. She even had to stitch her own head after a bear attack. Closest anything is 100 miles away I think she said... I don't like how Palin's dad calls her Sarah Palin this and Sarah Palin that. No father calls their daughter by their full name.... Other than a couple of "things", the show is better than I thought it was going to be.......

I am not a Palin political fan, but the show is not all that bad...she reminds me a lot of the women I know here in Montana...I still won't vote for her, but I don't mind watching her show every once in a while..

It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but I haven't had any desire to watch it again. The cutesy family stuff was a little bit much & as someone else said, I definitely didn't buy the whole "need to hunt to fill the freezer with meat for the winter" thing.

I guess I was OK with it - although I won't watch it - but when she brings in Kate plus 8, that is just so much over the top, that I REFUSE to watch it!

What's sad is people will vote for her because of it.

Oh, man, I totally forgot about that in the previews! Ya, I take it back, that's a train wreck in the works.

In the wake (pun intended) of all the "reality" shows about the rich and famous,Housewives of the(fill in the blank). The Cardashians (no offense but one whineing woman a day is all I can stand).or Paris Hilton and her sidekicks. The rehab shows,Big brother,MTVs trash,The girls next store,(I forced myself to watch most of the episodeds!!) etc.The show is refreshing IMO.But I may be biased.Ive always dreamed of going to Alaska, but not to fish for crabs!!!!!

I agree you have to filter out some of the reality show nonsense...but the scenery was fantastic. Alaska is definitely in a class to itself.

Re: Palin's Alaska on TLC

My wife and i have watched the show. My wife likes it and has probably watched all of them. I don't mind the show to much other than its more of a woman's, than a man show.

Having lived in very remote places most of my life most of that show is very real. Right down to filling the freezer with wild meat for the winter or taking a gun with you in the bush for protection. When the native woman were cutting up the fish to dry my wife parent's do that every year. Fresh food is fresh food. You can bet that if I could fill my freezer with Caribou/Moose/Wild Salmon and Halibut I would love it. Sure would beat the drug saturated meat we buy in the store.

This show I think is a way for her to show how people in the north live.
