Has anyone taken a look at, owned, or heard anything about these panga boats that they are now manufacturing in Florida? www.panga.com

A base 22ft panga cc goes for under 10K USD. I understand that a 90hp is more than sufficient to push these babies and on 40 gallons, have lots of range.

To boot, they only have an 8 inch draft.

At this price and with ability to go offshore as well as fish the inshore reefs, how can one not buy one.

Re: Panga

Looks like this mexican boat that a few people were importing a few years ago.Great boats new a couple of guys that sold there Contenders and bought to of these and were doubling there charter money. The boats were 22 or23' one had twin 40 tohatsu's and made one heck of a boat.the mold looks almost identical. There are still a few of them still around Gulf Shore's AL.

Re: Panga

From the pics.they resemble the canoes our commercial fishermen
use here though the pangas look like they have a better finish. The ones here because of the shape of the hull are very fuel efficient and if you are a troll fisherman, a 5 gallon tank could last a half a day perhaps. One disadvantage, in choppy seas , it's difficult to stand in the damn thing.Your sea legs have to be good.
If the pangas are built with a wider stern and does not roll in bad weather then -way to go with these gas prices especially in retirement! I'd like to hear more on this aspect.

Re: Panga

The Panga is a mexican fishing boat. There is a fleet of hundreds right across the border from me. The mexican fisherman run them onto the beach and pull them up and relaunch them with a truck everyday. A very rugged and useful boat. Will run in the shallows or through the surf and way offshore. Several of my friends have them. One runs a 50 horse on a 23' and says he can run all day and he goes offshore in some fairly rough weather. The problem is the mexican boats have no floatation and are basicly illegal to register. The american built ones should be a fine product.
