Happy New Year! I would like to know if anyone has imfo on Pangas in the USA. I know of a website that sells them for $30,000 but I am not looking at much. I have seen them in the 20ft range with 70 hp outboards on them.

They were just about what i expected.. Kinda rough inside, but not bad.. Narrow beam too..
I have been in pangas down in Mexico, Sea of Cortez. There is no way you can get $30,000 worth of boat into one, motor included! A panga could be an idea do-it-yourself project, if you have the time and space to build it.
I've seen this Panga question on other web sites. As near as I can tell there are a number of builders putting out Panga boats. I know that a little over a year ago Angler boats in Miami, Fl. was building boats called Merc Pangas for Mercury. I don't know if that is still happening. I've seen other builders mentioned as well. It's a little difficult to give info on a Panga when there's so many different ones out there.
Yeah, after I posted that you cant get $30k into a panga I went looking for plans on-line and found some prefab, trick pangas that would exceed $30k. I think (perhaps incorrectly?) of pangas as South American dories. Either boat would be a great project for do-it-yourself boat builders.<br /><br />Does anyone know what the significant differences are between a panga and a dorie (of the same size)?
