This is too funny!! I am a young boat owner ( 23) but every penny of it was earned by me. I feel that some of the "older" boaters think the same of me though, they see this kid with a 04' Chevy and a nice boat and think his parents bought them for him. Not the case.. I hate spoiled brats!

Our future generation at it's finest. When will people realize anything in life that means anything was aquired with good old fashioned hard work. It's the only way to appreciate anything in life.

yea but see your better off having brains. in ten years when this kid is on his own he is screwed. if you've got brains, then you can earn money for a living, rather than getting it from daddy
i want to smack that kids dad i hate people like that

Same boat here(no pun intended)! I'm 16 and a boat owner and I get that all the time. Bought my first boat with $350 of my hard earned grass money. It was a 1970 Lonestar Cadet with a Johnnyrude 25 and more than a few holes in the floor. I learned about stringers, fiberglass, paint work, and basically rebuilt the engine. Sold it for $1000, now im on my second boat!
Usually after I talk to people for a bit, they see I actually WORKED to get a boat, and know anything about boats then its all good.

Well, look at the bright side:

(1) Better that he blew the motor up (if indeed they did) before he did any damage (to someone else) out on the water. Sounds like the type that would run a WOT in a no wake zone "because I like the way the waves move everything around"...

(2) This is the peak of the capitalistic ideal for a consumer. Think of it: instead of "hording" the engine for a few years by taking care of it, he can buy a new one! Someone will get the old one, probably for cheap, and will buy parts to fix it - of course, all at a much lower cost than buying a new engine. It's win win! The corporation sells another engine, and parts. The original consumer gets a nice new shiny engine. The second owner gets a good engine (after some work, of course) for a reduced price...

I've seen it all too often, Mom, & Dad, give the kids everything, Quads (electric) before they've even learned to walk properly, then when they break that It's time to give them a new gas powered Quad, then a dirt bike, then a boat, a gun, a new car by graduation. It's the old "Lets spoil them younger all the time, what's the harm?" way of thinking, instead of teaching them respect for these items, or respect for money, and how to earn it, and or, respect for others. These kids have ego's bigger then themselves usually, because of this. Then when they turn around, and hurt themselves or others, or get arrested for breaking the law, The parents either deny it, and try to cover it up, and bail the kid out, or wonder where did we go wrong?

Lets hope his lack of brains causes him to lose all that money.... His kind deserve to own a leaky dingie. No more, no less.
