I HAVE A 252 PARKER. I HAD A SINGLE 225,EVINRUDE FICHT THAT MOVED TO 41.7 MPH. IM HAVING INSTALLED TWO 150 4 STROKES. I DONT REALLY KNOW IF I WILL GO ANY FASTER,BUT I WILL HAVE TWO MOTORS TO GET ME BACK FROM THE MIDDLRGROUNDS. I GOT AT LEAST 2 MILES TO THE GALLON WITH THE EVENRUDE, WILL POST WHAT KIND OF GAS MILAGE I GET WITH THE 4 STROKES.

Re: Parker 252 Repower

I was wondering, other than top rpm, is there anything I should look for when I test my boat out.Reason for asking, I read some earlier post and they said it was hard to prop 4 strokes.Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

hello
look at top rpm, does it cavitate on turns? will it ventilate or cavitate wil planeing/ are the motors to low on the transom? if they are you will see a lot of spray coming up the transomes and the motors. the anti-ventilation plates on the motors should be at the waters surface at planing speeds
good luck and keep posting on them new babies :)

I was thinking about the top rpm and propping of the motors. How can they reach top rpm when propping the motors if the motors arn't broke in yet?

You are correct, you should not hammer it until after the break in period.

I would go to the Yamaha web site, go to the motor test section, and find other boats that have been tested with twin 150 4-strokes, that weigh about the same as yours, to give you a prop pitch starting point.

I would then get the closest prop to the test reports that I could find (dia. and pitch), and either SS or alum (I like SS, but many don't).

But again, I would not open it up until I put the 10 hour break in period on the engines.

Spend a Saturday playing/riding around, showing off your new engines, then open her up and see how close you guessed.

Most reputable engine dealers will allow you to swap the props if they still are "like new" too, hopefully you made that part of your negotiation for the purchase of them.

Good luck, and let us know how they do.

Ron
