I need a lower shift cable set, an o-ring kit for the u-joint and a gasket for the outside section of the transom plate (bell housing? gimbal housing?)

OD Serial: 0D316030
Transom Serial #: 0D321249

So far i have this, but i have no idea if these are the right ones, as none of the serial #'s listed even contain a letter, let alone a D in them:

Sierra 18-2840 Bell Housing Gasket (or 18-2743)? No idea if this is correct, as it looks completely different (the original gasket was just a foam bead which ran along the outside edge of the gimbal housing (on the outside of the transom, sandwiched between the transom itself and the outdrive)
Sierra 18-2603 Lower Shift Cable Kit
Sierra 18-2648 Upper Unit Seal Kit

Do these look correct?

I would provide Iboats links, but all of the links have session and cart IDs attached :(

Are there sections of the repair manual which contain part #'s along with parts breakdowns? All I can find is where it tells you what the part is, but no part #'s. The part names are truly unhelpful, with names like 'o-ring'..

I also cannot find where there is a parts breakdown for the gimbal housing itself, just the drive shaft housing.

I realize these may seem like basic issues, but I'm just having a hard time figuring out what parts go to what drive (gen 1 and 2 are almost never specified) and what parts are called. I really wish there was a way to select "I have serial # such-and-such, filter to only parts for that" or "I have an Alpha One Gen 1 outdrive, filter parts to that". This whole some gaskets have 5 holes, some have 6, or some look grey and some look black, otherwise they seem identical stuff is horrible. It must be a boat thing, as I have yet to run across a more frustrating system of parts finding.

Skip the sierra stuff...

Order Mercruiser part number 865436A03
Order it through your local dealer... they are local jobs by local folks... or order it from merc directly.

It has everything you need to do the job.....

Retail is about 89 bucks....

Dealer cost is about 55 bucks....

Knowing that you can make your buying decision on whats a good deal and whats not on that. BTW the Merc cables are better, and shift smoother, than the sierra cables. Merc ones are teflon coated... Sierra is not.
