Part Falls Out While Re-Installing Lower Unit

I was having trouble installing my lower unit up into the upper gear housing (I am replacing my impeller). After a couple tries, I pulled the lower unit back down, and out falls a small spring. I looked up, and inside the gear assembly was a rubber seal that fell out of place. The attached picture is of the part that fell out, and the associated part of what I believe to be the same thing in the drawing.

Could you please offer some guidance as to what this part truly is?

Also, I am wondering if this is the oil seal, whether I can get a new one, and push it back up while installing the lower unit?

That seal has to be installed by itself.It needs to be pressed in with sealer.
You diagram was no help.It's easy to put in.J
