Part question

Hi guys

I found the part on the attatched pictures in the bottom of the bilge department, and I have no idea what it is and where it is missing.
My engine is a Mercruiser 5.0 MPI from 2010. Alpha sterndrive.
The mechanics have worked on the engine this summer but for some reason they can't answer my question.
There have been som work on the sea water pump and the raw water inlet in the bottom of the bilge. The mechanics tried to lift out the engine but they didn't finish the job. When I received the boat from the garage, the bilge was filled with all of the stern drive oil.

Well, if any of you can help about the part, I would be very pleased.

Regards
Thomas

Re: Part question

Time to find a new shop, heck they couldn't even pick up the engine and left oil all over? Not positive what that is but it could be support of some kind. It Also looks to be a part from possibly the starter area. Or it fell out of their pocket? Hope ya find out.

Re: Part question

Hard to tell the size from your photo. Next time maybe put a quarter, dollar bill, car key, ect. In the picture?
My guess is an electrical buss bar. Seen them used on the trim solenoids and starter.

Re: Part question

I seem to remember a similar part.......that is actually "part" of the 90 amp (red, square) fuse connected to the starter/solenoid (don't remember which) but I haven't seen that area in person in a while......don't ask me how I know that ....good luck....Oh and change shops....sheesh

Re: Part question

I think you are right. It has the size, shape and looks of the part you link to. Funny, it's not a part the mechanics have worked on.

Next time I will put an item in the picture so it's easier to measure the size.

I will go check up on my starter solenoid today and i'll let you know the answer.

Thank you guys :)

Cheers

Re: Part question

It could be the brass bridge between tilt/trim pump solenoids which carries the high amperage 12volts to the motor.

Re: Part question

Well, I have checked the starter solenoid, and it's intact.
No question that the same brass bridge is used on the trim/tilt solenoid. I'll go look again ;)
