I'm tryin to save some money and trade in some parts to get a power pack and stator for my 87 35hp merc. I keep hearing from folks around to know my value before I got give up parts at the local marine salvage shop cause they have been known to rip off some folks. But its pretty much all i have left to do. I just spent 1500 putting in new everything from floor to livewell on a 82 14 foot angler boat.

I took a 50 yamaha off the boat that had a cynlinder stuck, that was the only prob. other than the rusted up tilt and trim. The lower unit is like brand new and the prop looks new too. It was built with the boat, original. What would be a good swap for that?

I also have and old 50 force motor with issues i dont know from a friend that dumped his bass boat on my property years ago then just gave me the whole setup when the trailer rusted out. The footer looks good and the prop looks fairly good. Its an 85

I mainly wanna get a stator, powerpack, and a carb rebuild kit. I pretty much replaced everything else on my merc new. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Part value ?

The operational standard for salvage yard is,

They buy it for about it's weight value in scrap metal, or less.

They sell the same stuff for half of what it costs new, or more.

Re: Part value ?

I think your best bet is to sell the parts or whole engines on eBay, JGunn.

Be careful here. We don't allow solicitations or offers to buy or sell. As long as you are asking for advice you are okay.

Good luck. :)
