Re: SOLO MOTOR

That's great.....start a new post ...... maybe include a picture of your rare outboard since many have never seen one....... and ask where to find parts.

Welcome,If you stick around I think you will find this is an amazing forum 99.9% friendly well informed help on all most any subject.
We do need to try to follow the suggested procedures and guide lines to avoid confusion and to try to get you the assistance you need in a timely fashion.
The other day There was a fellow with a 1915 Evinrude looking for information. In a few hours we helped him find out the correct year , the fact it was made up of some unrelated Evinrude parts and a possible source for assistance and parts.
Your Solo may be a more difficult problem but we'll give it a try.
Pictures are usually a big help and fun to see.

I never heard of a Solo before ... neat little motor. Do you have a year and model number of her?

Re: Parts for Solo Motor

I assume you looked up Solo on google or something. I believe it is a distant relative of the Volvo Penta.
And Solo bought the rights to the Volvo Penta outboards and later dropped the outboard line from their vast
motorized products line.

Re: Parts for Solo Motor

Hi, yes your right and thank you. A project of mine, was very reliable and about as fast as a 6hp evinrude/johnson but half the weight, perfect for trolling and getting to a favorite fishing spot. It will run right now but needs a new prop. Any help for parts is appreciated guys, kind of a difficult project, lol but fun

Re: Parts for Solo Motor

You might pull the prop and post some pictures. There is a slim chance other brands may fit.
Diameter and pitch may be on the barrel or under the prop nut.
If it is a metal prop a prop shop may be able to refurbish it.
Keep an eye on ebay there is a Solo motor listed, maybe you could suggest to the seller they might do better parting it out
do to the near zero parts available. And you know where he might sell the prop.
