Hi Zzada<br />Unless your rotor and cap are broken or tested bad. Clean them up and run them. The same goes for the points. The points in this system are are just a trigger they don't carry a lot of voltage. They don't wear as much as in other systems. The cap and rotor will set you back quite a few bucks. These parts are not desposable like automotive parts. The plug wires screw into the cap. To replace them buy some real wire spark plug wire (bulk). After unscrewing, Carefully pry the crimped screw ends off the old wires and reinstall on the new wires. Call Seaway marine in Seattle wa. Give them your check card # and address and they will send you all the parts you want. These parts are not inexpencive anywhere, so you might as well get them fast, delivered to your door, no headaches.

The ends of the wires are just crimped on...you can buy them at NAPA auto...#18-5224, about half a buck each. Or you can buy a spark plug kit for that thing with all the parts for about 20 bucks...just a Thought

We can't help you, it's too old....LOL chuckle-chuckle..Couldn't resist. I just wanted to add, try ebay daily. It has been a fantastic source for me on older engines.

I have no problem at all buying any part I want for my 1960 Evinrude 40 from any old J/E dealer. On the other hand, the parts always cost a small fortune.
