Hi,
I am looking to repower my boat with as little cost as possible. I have a blown 1987 110hp that I would like to use for parts.
I found a 1986 120hp with a bad power pack very cheap.
I checked part numbers here and came up with:
1986 120hp power pack part# 113-3101
1987 110hp power pack part# 113-3110
Does anyone know what the difference is? Is it something that would stop me from interchanging them or is it a small difference like mounting or something that can be overcome.
Any info would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

Get a power pack for the 120. They are two different mtrs.

Thank you.
Should I get rid of the blown 110 or are there other parts I could use for the 120. I figured they would be very similar.

Take the 110 and part it out. You may make some $$$$. The 110 and 120 are two different breeds.

Since your last post I have been looking at other threads about the 120 and learning that they are different. Looks like people like the 120 better. I still don't understand what a looper is compared to the 110 motor.

Yes, the 120 looper is a better mtr. The 110 is the "old" cross flow design. It all has to do with how the fuel/air mix is injected in to the combustion chamber of the mtr. All of the newer mtrs are loopers,

The 1986 120 is a small bore 2.7L looper and is a ok motor ,the 86-87 had a lot of idling and bogging problems due to carb design and issues. Check compression on the 120 before buying as it may have problems from the "pack" failure...
