I have a 1977 200 powerhead will it swap onto a 1988 midsection and lower unit ?? i have a long shaft motor, but i need a XL shaft motor...a local guy has what i need (everything except the powerhead)...and so i was wondering if mine would fit ?? XL shafts are hard to come by around here so i'm going to have to try and make one out of parts :D...thanks Jason

Re: parts interchange

Let's start at the beginning. We know you have a 1977 200 which is a crossflow. If the 1988 is a 200 also it's a looper and the powerheads will not interchange.

the model number is E 150 TX CEM, so is it a looper ?? i know the E is for evinrude and 150 is 150hp but i'm unsure of the rest, any help would be greatly appreciated..i've got my fingers crossed (please be a crossflow) :D

Re: parts interchange

That'll work, that's a crossflow too. You can put your 200 right on, you'll just have to use the intake and shift linkage from the 89. No big deal.
