parts swap johnson 15hp to evinrude 15 hp

Can anyone tell me if a 15 hp johnson and a 15 hp evinrude , both mid 70"s parts will interchange. Lower unit, ignition powerhead, ect can i use my short shaft evinrude section to shorten a johnson

Parts are interchangeable.

I would think so, but you can easily tell by checking online the part numbers for the different parts. I just did that for a 1975 15HP Evinrude and a 1975 15HP Johnson and seems they are alike and even have the exact same parts breakdown as well...
