Bought used 14' party pontoon with electric motor a few weeks ago - had it delivered, no way to take it out of the water and now it appears to be listing - stern/port side. Thought it was the batteries but moved them to the middle and it is still listing - poss. it is taking on water but how do I find out...I am a gal who is not that handy with this type of boat and don't know how to check or remove any water that may be in the pontoon....again I have no way to get it out of the water no beach where I live........any help would be appreciated.

Re: Party Pontoon poss. leak?

Welcome to iboats.

To clarify, this has happened over time and isn't something you just noticed

Try calling whoever you bought it from and nicely explain the problem, they may feel bad and help you at least get it out of the water or they could tell you to step off, either way this has to come out of the water to inspect and repair.

Being electric I can't imagine any of the water is from splash so the leak is probably low on the tube below the water line and may just start peeing water out as soon as it comes out or you may have to have someone find it, Point being you have to get this out of the water to fix it, there is no way to air check or repair it in the water.

General procedure is to confirm water in tube by drilling or rocking the toon on the trailer and putting your ear on the tube, if there is water you will generally hear it, if water is confimed you need to tilt the boat to the back and drill the rear of all sections to drain, repair those holes then air check with 3-4 psi and soap water in a spray bottle, find the original hole and repair that.

This can be done by a local welder that has experience in aluminum TIG, make sure who you give it to can TIG weld, aot of people say they can but aren't very good at it.

Contact the original seller and see if they can help you out first.

Thank you for your help - owner died and I bought it at estate sale. Just moved to area and do not know anyone but will try to find someone with a trailer and pull it out and check it. Appreciate all the help since I had no idea what to do. Now I know who to have look at it and hopefully fix it. Doesn't appear to be getting worse but if one of the AZ storms come up I want to be prepared.
