This is a copy and paste from KOTV in Tulsa.

The Food and Drug Administration in Washington warns consumers NOT to eat certain jars of Peter Pan or Great Value peanut butter due to the risk of contamination. The FDA says the affected jars have a product code on the lid that begins with the number ``2111.''
For a full refund, consumers must return the product lid along with their name and mailing address to ConAgra Foods, P.O. Box 57078, Irvine, CA, 92619-7078.

Re: Peanut butter recall

I have one of the jars... Half-gone.
I don't do peanut butter, but the wife and dogs do. NOW I know why they all got the runs about two weeks ago!
Con agra will get more than the lid back. :|

Ol' Iron sides er Iron stomach eh? I'm in the food business, so I shouldn't joke about it. One would never expect domestic peanut butter to have such a problem. Let's just hope bird flu doesn't get a hold here, it will be a problem for both food and people. JR

Hey Bond-o, I would go to Conagra's site and get the specifics. You are near the bottom of a fairly large can with no ill effects, likely not in the lot that had problems. Not worth getting bent about if there is no harm, IMHO. JR

Oh, I am soooo thankful that JIF wasn't on the list.

I don't know what I would do without a JIF, sharp cheddar and sliced apple sandwich on homemade whole wheat just before bedtime. Yummmmm.

Has homeland security weighed in on this peanut butter contamination?

I think I heard on the news this also includes Wal-Mart or Sam's Club brand of peanut butter.

If you eat peanut butter it may be worth looking for which brands are affected.

I don't know if you are serious BB, but you have a very good point. It is very strange to have this kind of problem on this kind of product. JR
