I got my motor started and I thought at one time water came out what I called the pee hole on the 1/8" hole on the side. I may have been mistaken. The larger port which I call the water exhaust has lots of water coming out. but none in the smaller "pee hole " on the side. Is the way it should be? Or perhaps it has to open up themosate?

Water does not / should not come out of that hole in the exhaust housing !-----Is there something in that hole that is rubber ?------Perhaps a grommet for the water tube ?

I think that small hole is used to hold a rubber bumper that stabilizes the water tube in the leg, but will stand corrected if that's incorrect. (You may have some unburned fuel and carbon ooze out of there at times.)

Sounds like you are in good shape. Water in barrel will be a little clearer once you get the motor dialed in.

OMC outboards of that Era, didn't have Tel-Tales(Pee Holes). Didn't really need one as the Idle Relief(first Pic) will discharge Copious amounts of water

As Mentioned above, probably some kind of Bumper/Guide for the water tube was attached where the hole in the side of the Exhaust Housing
