Pee hole problem

Hi I was running my 1990 suzuki dt65 3 cylinder outboard in a deep tank to test my new fuel pump. The pump worked fine and the engine was idling nicely at about 850/900 revs and pumping water normally. I gave the engine a short small burst of throttle for less than 5 seconds and strangely the water jet from the pee hole slowed to barely a dribble. I took some fishing line and pushed it up the pee hole and sure enough it released the blockage and some black crud came out. And once again it idled normally I noticed the water coming out the pee hole was a lot warmer than I would normally expect it ( I would describe it as nearly hot ) Anyway a few minutes later the pee hole stopped again but this time it completely stopped and it was just blowing dry smokey air. Also no water was coming out the upper exhaust. Does this sound like a blockage or perhaps my impeller worn out? Any ideas

I would change the impeller and check for blockage while it was apart. When did you change the impeller last?
