I would like to know the name of the great penetrating oil that people have used in these forums. i did a search and couldn't' find it. I have four stubborn bolts on my truck I need to loosen. By the way, has anybody ever changed the rear rotors on a Silverado 1500. The year is 2003. The calipers and the pads are easy to take off.

PB Blaster is what I use the most on the stubborn ones...

PB is the best. When you get to your back rotors be prpared to do alot of pounding. The brake shoes inside the tiny drum brake get hung up badly. I have watch techs use sledge hammers on the old rotors.

Don't be afrais to use a propane torch on the bolts and heat them up.

Re: penetrating oil

Thank you for your replies. It was PB Blaster that I read about before. I looked at the Gibbs page also.
i have used AeroKroil in the past, but sometimes it just isn't good enough.

Break-Free CLP.

The best, hands down.

Big black aerosol can, yellow writing, $8 bucks. If you can't find it at the hardware store, try the gun shop.

Something I've used that works really well is GM's Heat Valve Penetrant...you can get it at any GM dealership.

While out shopping, I stopped at Auto-Zone. They had PB Blaster there. I picked up a can. I hope it is good. It was about half the price I paid for AeroKroil.

I used Aerokroil when I removed my prop. took a week of work because it was heavily corroded. It is good. We use it at work.

Re: penetrating oil

Finally got around to the brakes on the truck. Used the PB Blaster. WOW! Let it sit for a few minutes, a few taps with a hammer and backed the bolts right out. Worked much better than my AeroKroil on that job.
Laddies, I couldn't find Mercury Power Tune around here. Most of the dealers here are OMC. Is there a Mercury part number on it?

Re: penetrating oil

Thanks, I'll give the merc dealer a call. He is about 1 1/2 hours from here. Some items are cheaper to have him ship them than to drive out there.
