I am looking for any opinions on mid 1970's 23 foot tunnel hull Penn Yan hardtop . Construction, handling, performance, etc.

I concur. Unless you are always running in skinny water, skip the tunneldrive and go for a straight inboard PY....

A neighbor at the marina used to have a tunnel hull.
Never asked about it but it sure seemed to squat a lot
at speeds that appeared quite slow And it appeared to be squat not bow rise.It also seemed to be working hard
at a relatively low speeds.
It did appear to have a really shallow draft for what seemed to be a fairly deep V design about 20ft long.
I'd guess 14 to 18 inches.
