If I was to take a stab at why their oils have such high moly, it would be the initial issues they both had with direct injection. AKA no mixing the fuel and oil together, only spraying oil directly into cylinder. Much higher temperatures inside the combustion chamber, less oil makes it to the crankcase. Prior to the DFI oil days.
It would take someone with twin outboards, brand new and one runs of XYZ and the other ZYX, for a few hundred hours before a complete disassemble to see the true difference between the oils. And by that I mean Moly VS no Moly.
