I recently got a used boat with a Volvo Penta 4.3 GLA carburetor and swapping out the rotor, cap, wire, and spark plugs. The labeling of the old wire doesn't match up with the picture from the service manual. It ran so once in a while it will have a pop (attached a picture of the old wire in gray). I swapped out the rotor, cap, and rewire but haven't been able to start it back up. The drawn-up picture is how I have it now. Did I mess up the rotation somewhere in the cap?

Your best bet might be to pull the spark plugs and turn the engine by hand until the timing lines up with the line on the balancer. Then pull the cap and see which # the rotor is pointing at.

Start by finding #1 cylinder at TDC, then follow the firing order

Got it back in order again and it starts right up, little rough at idle, still needs timing readjustment.
