Re: Penta 4 cyl. I/O questions
New to I/O huh? Well that little inline will get good fuel economy.. I love my boat, but I sure miss the my ol outboard engine.. Takes a lot of maintenance for a I/O, and seems all used ones have been used hard or stored for years.. Both which are bad for them.. Volvo is good stuff, but like said before Merc is the ticket.. Not so much cause they are better, but parts can be bought anywhere(and are cheap).. I saw a water pump kit for them at Academy the other day...
BTW if that engine wasn't drained in the weather you are talking about, you can be sure of a cracked block, head and/or manifolds.. That puts a major bummer in picking up a new project.. Not that it couldn't be fixed but will cost a small fortune.. By then u start running into the price of a great, newer running boat... Hope you can make the fella give ya a good deal.. This forum well help ya with the repairs
