Hello -

I found a 2000 Glastron gs 209 for sale ($6900) that I am very interested in purchasing. I went to check it out today and found that on the forward end of the gearcase on the outdrive, about a half inch (at least) of the front of the case has been ground down by pavement I'm assuming. It doesn't look like it went through but how serious should I take this? These outdrives are ridiculously expensive. Below are the photos I've taken today.

If you can't afford a housing and the labor to change the innards over, walk away. From the marks I see in the first picture, it's almost through.

Wow, I cant believe it isn't thru already.
Walk away or offer them 3k less so you have cash for new lower unit.

Are any of the lower units interchangable? Could I use a SX-A for it? Can it be welded? I'm assuming no no and no..... Real bummer as i love the boat. This outdrive is hard to find as it's a 1.60 gear ratio...

No, the SX-A will not work. You need the same type drive, and the correct gear ratio.
