I have a couple questions, is penta engine and volvo the same? I am looking at a 20 ft bayliner admiralty with a penta 250 engine, do these engines have a good or bad reputation? and one more thing, I have never had a I/O, how is the fuel consumption?

ad just says penta 250 engine and does not mention the outdrive. I know what you mean about fuel consumption in boats, however considering the boat it is in and it being the engine(250) what kind of fuel usage should I expect per hour?

the 250 is a 2.5 ltr 4 cyl. fka aq151. roughly 1990-1993. It is a fresh water cooled, meaning antifreeze in the block and a heat exchanger for cooling.

It's a good motor IMO, but prior maintenance is key with all motors and outdrives.

They are good engines, but parts for them are expensive. They also don't have a choke, so starting when cold can be a bit of a pain, but they run fine when warmed up.
