I am switching to the Penzoil synthetic two stroke oils. I pre mix at 50:1. The engine is a 1994, 225 Johnny. I troll a little and also bottom fish. Would I be better off using the Penzoil blend or full synthetic. The difference in price is about $10 a gal. I used to use Johnson/Evenrude oil, but it smokes to much at start up and idle.
Stalker

because you are premixing, and you troll some, Id vote for the 100%.

Stalker....Which J/E oil did you use? Did you ever try the Ficht Ram oil? I would probably use the full synthetic.

Thanks for the info. I'll go with the full synthetic. The Johnny/Rude oil I use is the regular 2 cycle stuff you get at Wal-Mart for about $17 a gallon anyway. I never tried the Ficht stuff.
Stalker

The $17 walmart J/E would be X/D-25, and is 10% synthetic....1 step "above" the regular J/E oil.
The Ficht Ram is actually a blend (50%), and a very good oil, but is being discontinued.
The replacements are J/E XD-30, XD-50 and XD-100.
The XD-50 is the replacement for the Ficht Ram, but I understand it is yet a different formulation.

The Pennzoil Blend is the baseline oil we use for all testing. The Pennzoil full synthetic is even better.

Youll love either.
