Re: People tryin to hitch a ride for 4th of july!!

I have a friend that use to ask me to take him fishing every time i went out. He never helped pay for gas or food and beverage. He would always meet me at the dock usually after i have the boat in the water because he was always 30 to 40 minutes later than our planed start time. Well one day i got him, i told him what time to be there and if he was late i was leaving with out him, and i did. I went to the other side of the no wake zone about 400yrds away and started to fish. When he showed up i could see him yelling and waving his arms standing there on the dock, i just smiled and acted like i didn't see or hear him. After an hour he left and i just smiled and went to another spot. He has never asked to go again.:D

I dont have a problem with the boat here. My girlfriend invite her friends every now and then, then she tells me. Her sister is the worst, you have to drive about 30 miles round trip from the lake (the lake is on the way to where she lives) to pick her up, get to the ramp, do the boating then take her back and head home... It is 60 more miles than what I need plus is in fricking dang Charlotte traffic... I finally said no more. If she wants her sister to go she needs to get her sister to meet us at the ramp. I get a headache just thinking about it... BTW, she never invites the cute friends... Smart girl!!!

Well this 4th I will take my wife and four of her girlfriends. We hang out at a shallow spot in the lake that can only be reached by boat. Two of the girls are bringing food for everyone. I will supply the gas, tow vehicle and all the beer they can handle. And I will be smiling the whole time. (something about five chics in bathing suits just makes it worth it)

Heck, I'm only 9 hours away, see you in the morning!

As the old saying goes, "Gas, Grass or A** - No one rides for free."

I have been known to give an occasional free ride, but only for people I invite (and usually only if they will look good in a bikini.) Actually, most people who mention that they love boats don't even get invited, I am very choosy about who I want to spend 8-12 hours in a confined space with.

One thing about holidays in my group is don't ask. We all have boats too. If you did not prepare for the holidays, if your boat is not legitimately out of order or in dry dock, don't even bother to ask for a ride, to ask for help or to ask to tag along. Get your crap in order. Those who don't own a boat know not to ask for rides or to go fishing. It ain't happening.

I tell them, "sure! I'll be leaving the ramp at 8:00pm sharp. We'll be making a 40 mile run through alligator infested waters, but not to worry - my engine only quits about every other trip. Don't worry about that nasty looking gash in the hull either, I sealed it up with JB Weld yesterday. I haven't tried the boat yet, but I think it will hold ... well, it should."

ok.. in the last few days i have read this section and thought what must be wrong with me .. am i so mean that no one wants to go to the lake with me ??? then i realize.. people aren't asking to go with me .. they are asking me to come where they are going to be at the lake .. knowing i will have the boat with me ...
different back door tactic..

The beauty of a 14.5 ft open bow is that there's plenty of room for me, the wife, the kids, and the dog....but nobody else. It's technically a four seater, though one person could sit in the bow uncomfortably.

I have been thinking lately about asking this mom and her 2 kids if they want to go with us this weekend.....in all the time I have had my boat, she has been a great friend but never once asked to go. And, her kids dont get to get out and do stuff like that. Now THATS the kinda person that should get to go lol.

Yep, more friends than usual are calling right now, asking what my plans are. One even said, I thought u were going to the lake...I said yes, I might go. I hate having to explain that my boat is full, or i just dont want 7 people in my 7 person capacity boat. thats not always a roarin good time lol.

Me, the girlfriend, and 2 kids takes up room as it is....then I usually bring my buddy with, and im good with that! any more than that, and IM responsible for making trips back and forth like a shuttle to and from the dock and beach. usually at MY EXPENSE, no thanks. wow, good thread! haha.

I'm sorry, but I only counted 5 from your post. Does that mean you have room for me and my wife? :D I'll bring a six pack that we all can share and give you 5 bucks for gas if you come and pick me up at my house. And, are you bringing enough food for everyone? It's only polite...

Sorry, couldn't help myself :D
