Never did this on an outboard. Should I have the gas connected? Do I have to ground the ignition? If so, where? This motor is a 1976 70hp Rude.

Thanks,
Muskymani***

Warm up engine,
remove all plugs,
Ground all plug wires,
connect compression Gauge'
Hold throttle wide open,
Crank at least 4 times for proper reading!

one last thing......be sure to have the same number of "hits" on each cylinder, or your readings will be skewed.....
:)
