Perko Batt Switch- Confusing Continuity Test Results

Tracking down a starting issue and trying to determine if my Perko switch (OFF-1-ALL-2 ) is okay. I verified full voltage into the switch from both batteries, and ran a continuity test between each 'battery in' post and the 'Common' terminal on the switch, in each switch position. Here's what I got (letter 'C' indicates continuity confirmed by the buzzer on my MM). I tested several times and got the same results each time

Switch Pos Batt 1 to Common Batt 2 to Common

OFF C C
1 NO C
ALL C C
2 C C

I'm confused about the results...

Why do I see continuity everywhere regardless of the positon of the switch? For example, if the battery switch is set to OFF, shouldn't there be NO continuity between the batteries and the common terminal ?

Why don't I see continuity when I tested battery 1/switch position 1 against the common terminal?

Methinks my education is sadly lacking. Can anyone shed some light?

Do the test again and turn as many loads on as possible....ignition, lights etc and then measure the voltage drop across from 1 to common and then 2 to common. Should be close to 0.

That wasn't supposed to post. I backed it out (I thought) because I couldn't get the editing right. Anyway, turned out the switch was fine. Than ks, Bruce
